MEET RHONDA

Rhonda moved to Pompano Beach in 1989 and has always taken an active role in advocating for her community.  She served in the past as President of the Hillsboro Shores Neighborhood Improvement Association and as the Vice Chair of the East CRA Citizens’ Advisory Board.

She bought her home in Cresthaven in 2014 and immediately joined the Cresthaven Civic Association, serving on the Board for the last 8 years including 2 years as President and currently as Past President. Before being first elected in 2018, Rhonda worked closely with her District 2 predecessor, former Vice Mayor Charlotte Burrie on issues concerning the district and ran all her campaigns, served as Vice Chair of the Planning and Zoning Board and successfully campaigned for the passage of the G.O. Bond Issue in March of 2018 – which is funding the North Pompano Park, the NE 33rd street and the Dixie Highway improvement projects in District 2, plus the many other improvement projects to parks, roadways and public safety infrastructure throughout our city.

In addition to her duties as Commissioner, Rhonda is a member of the Florida League of Cities Land Use and Economic Development Policy Committee, Board Member of the Broward League of Cities, and is a member of the Broward County Water Advisory Board.

Rhonda is a big supporter of the Pompano Beach Historical Society and of The Arts. She is also a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 600.

Rhonda has studied Economics and Political Science at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana; Governmental Studies and Urban Planning at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and Architecture, Spatial Planning, Drafting and Design at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.

A mother of two daughters, Valerie and Danielle, and 6 year old granddaughter, Avery, who she enjoys taking care of when her daughter is working or going to school.

As the daughter of a Master Mason and as a former cabinet maker and theatrical carpenter, she is skilled in many aspects of building and construction. When not being a Commissioner, she enjoys making improvements to her Cresthaven home where lives with her partner, David and their two dogs, CoCo and Missy.

Professionally, Rhonda Eaton is the President of CHC Consultants, Inc. She also works as consultant for D.K. Sigerson, Jr. Esquire in Pompano Beach.
